Happy Birthday Photogenesis!

30 years ago this month Barb Priestap opened Photogenesis Photography. She declares that it was truly a work of the Lord as she and several friends began tearing down old walls and raising new ones to create the former space on 26th and Myrtle. Shortly thereafter she was able to begin photographing seniors, weddings and families. At first, every senior session was a free session just to bring them in the door. After a constant work schedule and busy weekends, Barb quit her full time teaching job at Mercyhurst Prep school to concentrate on just building the photography business.
Barb was a pioneer. 30 years ago there were very few female photographers. The ratio of male to female photographers, at least in this area, was very lopsided. Barb entered this territory very bravely and successfully mastered her craft by continuing her education, accepting challenging assignments and perfecting her portraiture. Check back here for more history and stories from Photogenesis Photography's first 30 years!
