New studio update!

Not only have we fully moved into our new studio location, but business is also moving along well. This is the path to our indoor shooting space and soon the entire 3 acres will be utilized as the ground dries up and the leaves and flowers break through.

Having a full service indoor and outdoor studio means that we can always be photographing, no matter what the weather! This is a great time to be thinking about and scheduling your spring and summer portraits. When was the last time you updated your family portrait? There is no better time than the present! Remember that Mother's day is just around the corner!

Happy Birthday Photogenesis!

30 years ago this month Barb Priestap opened Photogenesis Photography. She declares that it was truly a work of the Lord as she and several friends began tearing down old walls and raising new ones to create the former space on 26th and Myrtle. Shortly thereafter she was able to begin photographing seniors, weddings and families. At first, every senior session was a free session just to bring them in the door. After a constant work schedule and busy weekends, Barb quit her full time teaching job at Mercyhurst Prep school to concentrate on just building the photography business.
Barb was a pioneer. 30 years ago there were very few female photographers. The ratio of male to female photographers, at least in this area, was very lopsided. Barb entered this territory very bravely and successfully mastered her craft by continuing her education, accepting challenging assignments and perfecting her portraiture. Check back here for more history and stories from Photogenesis Photography's first 30 years!

A room with a view

                                                           Welcome to my new office!

One great thing about my new work space is that there is a window! In the past I was working in a dark room in the back corner of the studio with no window or fresh air. what does this mean for you, the client? Sunlight and fresh air can only ADD to the fresh ideas that I will be bringing to you as our studio continues to create fresh and memorable portraits for your family.

After less than one week in our new space I am up and rolling! The new office is fully functional and productive! Great things are just around the corner. Keep checking back!

Turning the page on a new chapter!

Today we have turned a page on a wonderful chapter in the history of Photogenesis Photography, and have officially moved to our new location in Waterford. This begins a brand new chapter for our studio. We are very excited for the improvement of our client services and the portraits we create as a result of this strategic move. Check back here for updates and almost daily blogposts and photos of our new space! And of course none of this is possible without God's leading. He gets the Glory!

Exciting times ahead!!

For the last couple of days I have been moving and cleaning and organizing. It has been a huge job clearing out our old space and now it is getting very exciting to continue creating the new! I have been so busy I have not had any time to post images but I will do so soon!

It is amazing how 30 years goes by so quickly and lots of things pile up everywhere. Part of the thrill of our new space is that we are starting fresh and all of the new technology allows us to do so much with so little.

By Friday I should be totally moved out and by next week brand new exciting opportunities will begin for our clients! I am looking forward to the fresh and new Photogenesis! Many images will be posted soon!

Moving right along

Albert Einstein once said "If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what then, is an empty desk a sign of?"

I thought of the quote above when I looked at this picture below. This is a photo of my new office. It is up and running and about 75% complete.
For months now I have been gathering and removing 30 years worth of compiled "stuff" from our studio. I am learning that I can be more productive without so much of the stuff that I used before. New technology is a great luxury to create a better product in a smaller but more efficient amount of space.

I am also very thankful for how God continues to lead both Barb and I down this exciting new path of providing a better experience than ever before for our clients. Thank you all for following along!

Happy Fall....almost

It has been a long time since my last post and we have been very busy at the studio and also at home!
The studio continues to go very well and be very steady even in this sometimes crazy economy. We are thankful for God's provision and also for our incredibly loyal clients!

In the coming weeks I will be using this blog to fill you in on exciting changes and things to look forward to as our studio approaches it's 30th year.

Right now I want to encourage you not to let the fall season fly by without scheduling a portrait session. Fall is one of our most beautiful seasons. What better time to schedule a portrait? Call today and I will tell you about some incredible deals!

Lion King at Waterford Elementary

For the past six years we have photographed the musical production at Waterford elementary. The kids are great, the costumes are awesome and the shoot is always fun, fast and furious. This year was no exception as we (lauren and I) spent time creating some awesome memories and images for all of the kids and parents. The image above is a cartoon collage. I was able to re process the images so they look like cartoons and you get the real "Lion King effect".

cruisin'

We are having lots of fun with some new props. This is a great little car that every kid loves to climb into. It is truly a smile generator. The smile quickly fades when every kid finds out that the car will not move! I am very careful to be ready for the shot before they find out it does not move!

Arizona in January

I am finally getting a chance to go through some images from our Arizona trip in January and this has to be one of my favorites so far. We were just about to embark on a scenic ride up to a mountain trail. The sky was unusually cloudy for Arizona!

Happy Birthday Naomi!

This is just one portrait from an absolutely fun session with Naomi. Not only did she laugh alot, but her mom and dad really enjoyed laughing along and singing lots of her favorite songs which made her smile like crazy!
